Putting Gender on the Map

In line with the 2nd sub-theme of the 15th RCC meeting of building resilience through inclusive and rights-based approaches, Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Deputy Executive Director, ADPC, talked about integrating gender equality and rights-based approaches into disaster risk reduction (DRR).

The sub theme is line with the Ulaanbaatar Declaration, which highlights a need to ensure a human rights-based approach (HRBA) and the SFDRR‘s call to promote universally accessible approaches that highlight gender equality and women’s leadership as fundamental principles.

During the 15th RCC meeting, participants highlighted their perspectives, obstacles and practical integration of different aspects of human rights-based approaches with the aim to generate recommendations towards promoting and enhancing such approaches in DRR and CR across Asia and the Pacific region.
